Disappearing Act November 21, 2007

As we get older crows feet and little fine lines start to haunt our everyday lives.  Here is a trick for women trying to conceal those lines.

Less is more Use a full coverage concealer to cover dark areas around the eye.  Lightly pat the concealer on the dark area in the inner corner of the eye (its usually darkest there) and anywhere else it’s needed. When applying concealer over fine lines mix some moisturizer in with it.

Concealer tends to make fine lines look deeper than they actually are, so don’t use it unless you need to conceal the dark circles under and around your eye.

This skirt is (high) waaaiiisted!

Filed under: Trendspotting — btwice @ 2:25 am

The days of low-rise anything being fashionable are far behind us, but ahead the new waistline actually starts above the bellybutton. The fashion-forward pencil skirt sits just below the ribcage, with the rest of the skirt fitting snug along the hip and hem. Also know as the “hobble skirt,” the fit of the garment makes fast-walking verrrry ungraceful.

Check out these styles that are sure to be on my Christmas list! :-)

Lola Y Maria - High Waisted Linen Pencil Skirt, $150 here

The Mod Cat Eye November 19, 2007

Filed under: Beauty Tips, Trendspotting — btwice @ 8:54 pm

The cat-style eye started with our favorite 1950s glamour queen Marilyn Monroe. More recently, celebs like Amy Whinehouse and Angelina Jolie are rocking it on the red carpet. Here are a few tips on how to create a look that will help bring out your inner purr!

Shadowcat

Start with a light coat of eye shadow primer applied over the entire lid. On top of that, layer with a neutral-colored eyeshadow. Contour the crease of your eye with a darker shadow for a more dramatic look.

Top o’ the line

Using a dark brown or black liquid eye liner, apply the liner on the top lid as you normally would until you get about 3/4 the way across your eyelashes. From there, take the liner straight across and up to create a line curved slightly towards your temple. The further you draw the line outside of eye, the more dramatic the effect will be. Build the line up just a bit past the outer corner of your eye and taper the line off at the end to create the “wing”.

Avoid a cat-astrophe

Don’t apply any liner on the inner corner of the eye above the lash line. Doing so will make your eyes appear beady.

With some practice and patience, you’ll be able to find the perfect shape to make this look your own!
